The rescue center "Las Pumas", created in the 60th by Dona Lilly Bodmer Hagnauer, is one of the centers in Guanacaste where you can observe the wild animals, in captivity and the unique place regrouping the 6 species of felines of Costa Rica. The rescue center receives all types of animals: those that are seized by the authorities, brought by their owners or find injured on the roads. The center takes care of these animals and, if possible reintroduces them in their natural habitat. If they cannot be freed, the center provides them a shelter, simulating the most possible their natural habitat.
The Foundation Hagnauer, a non-profit institution, has been founded in 2003, with objective to continue the conservation and the preservation of fauna and flora initiate by Dona Lilly Bodmer Hagnauer. Since 1960, she had a futuristic vision while projecting the conservation of the species of plants and animal native of the dry forests of this region. Currently, the foundation encourages the education and the awareness of the public for the importance of the protection of the environment. The animals maintained at the center give the opportunity to the visitors to acquire some knowledge on the wild fauna and sensitize them aware of not to acquire any wild animals.

Le centre de sauvegarde "Las Pumas", créé dans les années 60 par Dona Lilly Bodmer Hagnauer, est un des centres du Guanacaste ou l'on peut observer des animaux sauvages, en captivité et l'unique endroit regroupant les 6 espèces de felins du Costa Rica. Le centre de sauvegarde recoit tous les types d'animaux: ceux qui sont saisis par les autorités, apportés par leur propriétaires ou receuillis sur les routes. Le centre s'occupe de ces animaux et, si possible les réintroduit dans leur habitat naturel. S'ils ne peuvent être liberés, le centre leur fournit un abri, simulant le plus possible leur habitat naturel.
La Fondation Hagnauer, institution à but non lucratif, a été fondée en 2003, avec objectif de poursuivre la conservation et la préservation de la faune et de la flore inicié par Dona Lilly Bodmer Hagnauer. Depuis 1960, elle eu une vision futuriste en projetant la conservation des espèces de plantes et animales natives des forêts sèches de la région. Actuellement, la fondation encourage l'éducation et la prise de conscience du public de l'importance de la protection de l'environnement. Les animaux maintenus au centre donnent l'opportunité aux visiteurs d'acquérir des connaissances sur la faune sauvage et les sensibilises au fait de ne pas acquérir des animaux sauvages.
